
De pe blogul The Colorlines/The Racewire aflam ca in 2007 Michael l-a contactat pe artistul Kehinde Wiley pentru o noua pictura. Kehinde este foarte cunoscut mai ales in comunitatea artistilor de culoare, pentru interpretarile sale, care impletesc barocul, rococco-ul cu stilul urban actual, in care sunt regasiti multi artisti hip-hop. De cele mai multe ori recurge la realizarea unui portret foarte realist, pe fonduri extrem de decorative.
I try to recognize the sacred in the most common places; I just start with an African American community that I belong to. You know, much of what I do is I quote old paintings, and the old paintings are repopulated with young African American men who follow a very straight ahead demographic, between the ages of 18 and 25. It’s obviously a comment on youth culture and it’s a comment on consumption patterns, but it’s also a comment on who gets to be in those sort of important moments in picture making.
Ignora o perioada apelurile de la Michael:
“I ignored them because quite honestly I thought it was a prank”says Wiley.Dar dupa ce se convinge ca sunt de fapt serioase, atat apelurile cat si intentiile lui Michael, de a lua legatura cu el si a comanda o pictura.

Acesta este rezultatul, aflat intr-un stadiu incipient anul trecut in iunie, artistul grabindu-se sa o termine, aceasta fiind expusa la galeria Art Biasel, Miami.

The Art Newspaper"The portrait is a compilation of six paintings, including works by David and Rubens. When asked why he felt obliged to complete the work, Wiley said: “Unfortunately, I didn’t have as much input as I would have hoped for, but I think it’s something he would have been proud of. Michael was an extraordinarily talented person with a team who could realize his ideas as much as his performances, and I think that his idea of collaborating with me was something that he really wanted to see through…I felt a responsibility to him to get it done.”
Pana si aici notam implicarea lui Michael, fapt ce este mai mult decat imbucurator. Desi multi si multe sustineau sus si tare ca nu se mai implica in proiecte, avem aici o mare contrazicere.
Am gasit si cateva presupuse, una este foarte evidenta, din cele sase lucrari care au contribuit si au influentat lucrarea finala.

Jaques-Louis DAVID (1748-1825), Count Potocki (1781) se gaseste la Muzeul Narodome, Warsaw, observam aceeasi inclinare a calului, culoare, pana si fundele sunt exact puse.

aici se poate remarca incoronarea de catre ingeri, un simbol adesea folosit atat de Rubens cat si de majoritatea artistilor din baroc, preluat si in pictura lui Michael
